In addition to core academic subjects, the curriculum includes enrichment programs in music, art, sign language, Spanish, technology and social skills, which gives children the foundation for a future filled with promise.

What is the Bracken Assessment?

What is the Bracken Assessment?
Primrose Schools tests the Balanced Learning curriculum with national assessments of school readiness to ensure its quality. The Bracken Assessments are basic school readiness assessments that assess a child’s understanding of important foundational early childhood concepts related to early childhood education such as colors, letters, numbers, counting, sizes, comparisons, shapes, etc. Both the BSRA-3 (Bracken School Readiness Assessment-3) and the BBCS (Bracken Basic Concept Scale) are nationally normed, developmentally appropriate, and have been shown to predict readiness for more formal education in elementary school.

How does Primrose evaluate the success of the Balanced Learning® curriculum?
Primrose is committed to continually improving every aspect of the care and education children receive in our schools. Our Education Advisory Board is made up of leading early childhood experts who make recommendations for the continuous improvement of our education and training programs. We use a national assessment instrument, the Bracken Assessment, at the Pre-K and Kindergarten levels to continually assess the effectiveness of our curriculum and delivery. Results from Bracken indicate that at the national level, more than 90 percent of Primrose students mastered 80 percent of the Bracken Assessment school readiness concepts, and show 1.5 times more growth than peers in concept mastery by the end of the school year.
